Originally made in the Pyrenean regions of Occitania & Catalonia, Espadrilles have been a staple of European's Summer wardrobe for many years. Traditionally, they’re made with a rope sole and flimsy rubber layer beneath. Very much a simple peasant shoe, constructed using easy to find local materials.

Espadrilles are perfect for the summertime, lazing by the pool or walking to the beach. However the rope sole is not something that’s built to last. If you get them wet they begin to fall apart and generally look a bit worn out. Espadrilles tend to have a very short life span. There is also no support at all for the foot. With so many modern materials & construction techniques available, we have made use of them to update this classic style of footwear.

Walking around on a rope soled shoe is something we at Envoy Australia were well aware of after many summers in Europe wearing espadrilles.

We have used a high-quality natural rubber sole to replaced the flimsy rubber and rope sole of the traditional espadrille. Giving you enough grip to ensure you stay on your feet when you’re hauling in giant marlin or operating with impaired senses at 4am in a Venezuelan nightclub. Plus our style is not unisex, it's a shoe designed for guys, so you won't see your girlfriend wearing the same shoes as you!
